Chris Sutton has slammed Marcus Rashford after seeing him miss this weekend’s win at Newport with an apparent illness.

Rashford was left out by Erik ten Hag who admitted the striker had been ill but there was also an internal issue for him to sort out with Rashford as well.

Quite what will happen with Rashford now remains to be seen. Clearly, Ten Hag has an issue to deal with and this has been ongoing for some time now.

And speaking about the issue of Rashford and United on the It’s All Kicking Off podcast today, Chris Sutton has slammed the Old Trafford ace for his behaviour.

Chris Sutton slams Marcus Rashford

Speaking about Rashford and particularly his attitude towards the manager and his fellow players, Sutton was not impressed one bit with the United forward.

“I just think Marcus Rashford is like a good few Manchester United players at this time and I think he thinks he’s untouchable. His behaviour in the week, it hasn’t been the first time where’s he’s had a misdemeanour, it’s been continuous. He has no respect for the manager. No respect for his teammates and that’s the bottom line. He’s probably thinking he’s going to outlast Ten Hag but, he’s out of control as far as I can see,” Sutton said.

Rashford’s form has dipped dramatically this season after being one of the stars of the show last season.

Quite how he comes back into the fold remains to be seen, given Ten Hag’s hard-line approach with Jadon Sancho.

Rashford could well move on

There is a serious game of cat and mouse going on here with Rashford and Manchester United, and of course, Erik ten Hag.

Right now, if United are to stick with Ten Hag, then it looks like Rashford might end up being sold on somewhere if they cannot resolve whatever the issue is.

Obviously, it’s sad to see Rashford going this way after doing so much so far in his young career but there is clearly something wrong.

For Rashford’s sake, most fans will hope he comes to his senses and there is a way forward.

But with Ten Hag being how he has been with others, this could yet rumble on.
