Chris Sutton has now predicted who will win as Manchester United face Tottenham

Manchester United face Tottenham this weekend in what has become a clash between two mid-table sides currently.

Indeed, after two slow starts to the season, United and Spurs respectively sit 11th and 10th in the Premier League table.

Both teams have improved in recent times as United are four games unbeaten in all competitions, while Spurs are three without defeat after their Europa League win on Thursday.

Writing in his column for the BBC, Chris Sutton has been discussing this game, and he’s made a prediction on who will come out victorious this weekend.

Chris Sutton backs Manchester United to beat Tottenham

Sutton shared his verdict on this match, tipping the Red Devils to beat Spurs.

“I am going to stick with my instincts and go for a United win. Let me explain why,” Sutton wrote.

“In my opinion, United cannot beat Spurs by going toe-to-toe with them, but there is an argument that Tottenham’s playing style will suit Erik ten Hag, because it is in these sort of games where Ten Hag’s counter-attack football works best.

“I am not exactly confident they will beat Spurs though.

“What worries me most about tipping United is what happens in the centre of the park. Are United going to rely on Christian Eriksen again, against his former club. A great player, but does he have the legs?”

Manchester United and Tottenham are inconsistent

It’s so hard to predict who will win this game, because both teams have the tendency to perform wildly differently depending on what day it is.

Tottenham, at their best, are a match for any team in the Premier League, but if they don’t turn up, they can be turned over by any half-decent side.

As for United, performances haven’t been there for a long time, but Erik ten Hag’s side do seem to get results in games like this when they’re under pressure.

Interestingly, Ian Wright has also tipped United to beat Tottenham.

Due to the fact this game is at Old Trafford, Manchester United may be slight favourites, but it’s hard to be confident in either team’s ability to win this match.
