Liverpool face Manchester City this weekend in what is truly a blockbuster Premier League clash.
Arne Slot’s side are flying high at the top of the Premier League, and while City are in second place, they’re lagging behind after their recent form.
Indeed, City have failed to win any of their last six matches in all competitions, and this trip to Anfield couldn’t have come at a worse time.

Meanwhile, the Reds are coming off the back of a convincing win against Real Madrid in the Champions League in midweek, and they’re riding the crest of a wave.
These games are often hard to predict, but, writing in his column for the BBC, Chris Sutton has claimed that this game could be incredibly one-sided.

Chris Sutton predicts Liverpool vs Man City
Sutton shared his verdict on how this game will go.
The pundit says that Liverpool could actually tear Man City apart, predicting a 4-1 win for the Reds here.
Paul Merson also tipped Liverpool to win this game.
“It’s been a good week for Liverpool and a good season so far but a win to send them 11 points clear of the defending champions would make it a great week and a great campaign, and that’s what I am going for,” Sutton wrote.
“They might not just beat City, they could take them apart like Spurs did.
“Because City have been so dominant in the Premier League, there will be a lot of people out there who would be happy to see Liverpool win the title this season.
“I would be one of them, I think. I said last season that I would have been happy to see Arsenal finish top, because – other than Celtic in Scotland – no-one wants to see the same team win every year. That is nothing against City or their fans, it is only because they have had it their own way for so long.”
Liverpool’s biggest wins against Manchester City
Sutton says that Liverpool will beat City 4-1 at the weekend, and that would be one of the Reds’ biggest wins against the Cityzens.
Indeed, while Liverpool spent the early years of the Premier League era as a much better side than City, they’ve very rarely thrashed the Manchester club.
| Date | Liverpool’s biggest Premier League wins vs Man City |
| 28 October 1995 | Liverpool 6-0 Man City |
| 21 November 2015 | Man City 1-4 Liverpool |
| 28 September 2002 | Man City 0-3 Liverpool |
| 11 April 2011 | Liverpool 3-0 Man City |
| 2 March 2016 | Liverpool 3-0 Man City |
This would be a statement victory for Liverpool, and if City aren’t careful, they could be a long way behind the Reds in terms of both points and goal difference.
Of course, you can never write off Pep Guardiola’s side, especially after they’ve won four consecutive league titles, but, for the first time in a long time, it would be something of a shock if City managed to win this game.
Liverpool are title favourites in the eyes of many, and it’s easy to understand why.
Liverpool could be 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League by the close of play on Sunday, and that is a huge mountain to climb for any team.
