Chris Sutton has criticised Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for comments he made after the 1-0 win over Norwich – labelling them as “utter rubbish”.
Arsenal went into Saturday after losing three straight matches to Brentford, Manchester City and Chelsea. They took on Norwich at The Emirates.
They squeezed out a 1-0 win, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring his first league goal of the season – his fourth in all competitions.
After the match, Gunners gaffer Arteta told Sky Sports: “For me, it’s the been the best week or 10 days of my career in this industry.”

Ex-Premier League striker Sutton discussed Sutton’s comments during BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club – and he labelled them as “utter rubbish”.
“Being sort of cynical, that is just utter rubbish. How could he have had the best 10 days, come on. The best 10 days? Better than winning the FA Cup?
“I just found those comments, well I didn’t believe him. I don’t think I’m the only one, how could that be possible?” Sutton told 5 Live.
Sutton on Arteta: Is there a bit of optimism at Arsenal, now?

The criticism on Arteta has been somewhat over the top. Firstly, two of the three defeats were against sides expected to be in a title race.
Manchester City and Chelsea probably have the best two squads in the Premier League. So, Arsenal suffering defeats to both was always likely.
No-one wants to play a newly-promoted side away from home in the first game of the season. Combine that with numerous positive tests.
The pandemic hit Arsenal hard at the start of the season, as did injuries. Lots of new signings means Arteta and Arsenal need time.
