Chris Sutton has praised the individual ability of Celtic’s midfielder Callum McGregor, who he regards as one of the finest players in Scotland.
The 26-year-old has continued to be a key player for the Bhoys this season after years of service and is an ever-present in the centre of the park.
He’s an all-action central midfielder that can offer an attacking threat going forward, as well as helping to provide defensive cover in front of the back four.
The Scotland international has five goals and two assists in 29 games across all competitions so far this season for Celtic.
Sutton was discussing the best players in Scottish football right now and ranks McGregor as the eighth best in the country.
“I think he’s a fantastic footballer. Knits everything together in the Celtic midfield has done for a number of seasons now,” Sutton told the Daily Record.
“Really incisive passer, lovely technician. That’s why he’s my number eight.”
McGregor is one of the standout players for Neil Lennon’s team and he does such an effective job alongside veteran captain Scott Brown.
He provides such a great energy all over the park for Celtic and he’s shown his quality on the European stage too, where the club have already topped their group in the Europa League to qualify for the knockout rounds.
He’s certainly got the quality to play in the Premier League if he desired and fans should enjoy the left-footed star while they have him.
