Chris Sutton has warned Celtic’s Tom Rogic that he’s in danger of losing his spot to Ryan Christie on a permanent basis.

Rogic is yet to start the season due to injury and is doing rehab work to try get himself back to full fitness.

The 26-year-old can be a creative genius on his day and usually plays in the number 10 role behind the striker, where he can link up play and score goals.

But teammate Christie has stepped up during his absence so far this term and been a main man for Neil Lennon’s team.

The 24-year-old has played in all three Champions League qualifying matches so far, scoring three goals and supplying two assists in return.

Ex-Celtic striker and now pundit Sutton has warned that Rogic is being overtaken in the pecking order.

“Tom Rogic is someone I rate extremely highly. However, if the truth is told there are warning signs flashing now for Rogic,” Sutton wrote in the Daily Record.

“His mantle is in serious danger of being taken by Ryan Christie.Rogic is not guaranteed to fire if the opposition is lowly and the game doesn’t get his juices flowing.

“Christie, though, looks as if he’s ready to go with the same enthusiasm regardless of the opposition.

“Rogic remains a fantastic player and I would far rather he stayed. But the man in possession of the jersey is doing the business.”

TBR’s View:

Rogic’s time at Parkhead has seen him become a big fan favourite and also win tons of silverware, but injuries have constantly come back to bite him.

The Australian attacker is a real handful when he’s on top of his game and has a lethal left foot , which he’s used to great effect on several occasions.

But Christie looks the far more dependable option right now and appears to be improving each game under Lennon.

Rogic could well find himself with plenty of work to do if he wants to walk into the XI when he’s fit again.
