Chris Sutton has told The Record’s Celtic podcast that the Hoops have an issue regarding Kyogo Furuhashi – and it involves another new signing.
Joining Celtic in the summer from Japanese side Vissel Kobe, Kyogo has gone on to score an impressive 13 goals in 18 outings for Celtic.
His movement, speed, work rate and positioning in the final third has drawn praise from pundits and fans alike. Kyogo also has three assists.
He is one of numerous additions in the final third, along with Israel international Liel Abada and on-loan Portuguese winger Jota.
Another new signing, in the form of Giorgios Giakoumakis, is struggling to get a look in. Joining with an injury, he is lacking in momentum and form.
Speaking about Celtic’s options, Sutton stated that Postecoglou has an issue with Kyogo – and it is that he cannot play both Kyogo and Giakoumakis.

“Celtic’s issue with him [Kyogo], is he has to play – he is most-effective as a central striker. It means Giakoumakis is an issue for Postecoglou.
“How does he get both of them into the team? It poses the question, Celtic cannot afford to leave Kyogo out. That’s the issue for the manager.”
Sutton on Kyogo: How can he, and Giakoumakis, combine for Celtic?
Unfortunately for Giakmouakis, the combination of Jota, Kyogo and Abada is working to perfection. The chemistry has been quickly installed.
That is, despite all three being new signings. The trio have combined superbly – with Jota’s creativity, Abada’s pace, and Kyogo’s movement.
Giakoumakis does boast slightly different traits that will eventually help him get game time. As a classic no.9, he scored 26 Eredivisie goals in 20-21.
His time will come. But for now, he will have to wait while the front three shine. Perhaps, Kyogo and Jota could sit behind Giakoumakis.
In a 3-4-2-1 system, both Jota and Kyogo could act as wide 10’s with the Greece international the spearhead. But why change, at the moment.
