The ex-striker has been discussing which players should be targeted by the Hoops in the summer.

As part of the piece, he has been offering his thoughts on which players should depart and the ex-Swansea goalkeeper is clearly not fancied by Sutton.

The veteran stopper has played just 15 times for Celtic since signing from Nottingham Forest in 2016.

At 38, time is running out for de Vries to have an impact at Parkhead and his days should be numbered, according to Sutton.

He told the Daily Record: “Dorus de Vries should have been gone long ago and Craig Gordon is coming to the end of his career.”

Neil Lennon has included the Dutchman in four of his matchday squads. Should he get the job permanently in the summer some new faces for the goalkeeping department might be necessary.

TBR Verdict

Sutton appears to be at his opinionated worst here!

Not one to shy away from saying exactly what he thinks, Sutton has waded into the quality of goalies in the ranks at Celtic.

Okay, de Vries isn’t going to be a first-team regular at the club any time soon but he is a fantastic professional.

To suggest that he should have been offloaded ages ago is perhaps a little over the top.

The ex-Forest man will have had a huge impact on Scott Bain and will have undoubtedly passed down some invaluable experience.
