Chris Sutton delivers verdict on Rangers title bid

Chris Sutton believes that Rangers could find their title bid over if they lose away to Hibernian on Friday night.

The Light Blues travel to Easter Road for a Scottish Premiership tie and have the chance to cut the six-point gap to leaders Celtic down to just three.

Steven Gerrard’s side are just about in touching distance of the reigning champions and are trying to plot an unlikely title bid at Ibrox.

But pundit Sutton finds it unlikely that Rangers will sustain their push and feels they will need to beat Celtic twice in their remaining meetings to stand a chance.

“If Rangers don’t win at Easter Road on Friday night the league is as good as done,” Sutton wrote in the Daily Record.

“I still think Steven Gerrard’s side will need to win both remaining Old Firm games to even stand a chance of taking it to the wire. It’s a stretch, to say the least.”

TBR’s View:

All is not completely lost for Rangers in their pursuit of a league crown and they have the chance to apply some real pressure on Friday night before Celtic face Aberdeen on Saturday.

Gerrard’s side are still clinging on in there and know that they are capable of beating Celtic in a one-off game.

It seems like a great opportunity to pounce given the exit of manager Brendan Rodgers at Celtic mid-season and all Rangers can do is keep winning to try make their Old Firm rivals buckle.

They should be confident of beating all teams when in-form striker Alfredo Morelos is on top of his game and now is not the time to let a poor display creep in if they want the title.
