Chris Sutton delivers two-word reaction to Steven Gerrard’s comments about Rangers star

Chris Sutton has sarcastically reacted on Twitter after hearing that Steven Gerrard has claimed Rangers would not sell Alfredo Morelos in the January transfer window, even if a £50million bid was tabled for the Colombian.

Morelos, 23, has been in sensational form for Rangers this season – netting 22 goals in 26 league and cup outings. He has also created seven goals, and wiped out his poor disciplinary record that saw him sent off five times last term.

He has been linked with a whole host of Premier League sides, while clubs in France and Germany have been linked over the past six months. But Morelos remains at Ibrox, and has a contract with Gerrard’s side until the summer of 2023.

Dave King claimed he would not sell Morelos for £40m in Rangers’ AGM this week and Gerrard echoed that statement – as quoted by the Record: “No – and you can add another £10m on as well.” Sutton reacted sarcastically on Twitter.

TBR’s view – Morelos will not leave in Jan, but how much in summer?

It is clear as day that any sum of money will not be worth Morelos leaving in January, and Rangers missing their chance of ending Celtic’s pursuit of nine in a row. However, he is much more likely to leave in the summer.

How much will he go for then? The figures of £40million and £50million are ridiculously high. Celtic sold Moussa Dembele for just under £20million in the summer of 2018, and Rangers would surely receive a fee similar to that.
