Chris Sutton concerned about the future of one Tottenham player

Chris Sutton has told BT Sport’s UEFA Europa League highlights show that Harry Kane might be even more tempted to leave the club this summer – after Tottenham Hotspur exited the Europa League at the last 16 stage against Dinamo Zagreb.

Kane, 27, has been in stunning form this season – producing some of the best stats of his career. But the England skipper has not been able to take Spurs into the top four of the Premier League, or into the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

The striker missed numerous chances as Spurs crashed out, despite a 2-0 lead from the first leg. After extra-time, they lost 3-2 in Croatia and Spurs are left to focus on a Carabao Cup final – and a slight chance of finishing in the top four this season.

Sutton, though, is concerned regarding Kane’s future at Tottenham. The striker has spoken recently about his future, stating he will stay at Spurs if they match his ambition – but Sutton has questioned if they are doing that, following Thursday’s loss.

“If you’re Kane and you’ve got any ambition you want to play for a team that can win trophies. Is that Spurs? No. is the League Cup enough? Everyone is pointing fingers, and that’s a real worry,” Sutton responded, when asked about Kane’s future.

TBR’s view – Kane might need to leave Tottenham, now

Unfortunately for Spurs, things are looking ominous in terms of Kane’s future. Unless Tottenham win the Carabao Cup and qualify for the top four, surely Kane will be considering a move to the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City or elsewhere.

Spurs simply cannot keep up with Kane. The defence has been appalling compared to Kane’s effectiveness. Surely, as Sutton says, if he has any ambition to win trophies – then he will want to leave Tottenham this summer and move to pastures new.
