Chris Sutton has made a comparison between Leeds United’s Patrick Bamford and Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

Bamford, 27, is a centre-forward now getting a chance to start regularly in the Premier League, and has 14 top-flight goals already this season.

He was omitted from the England squad during the international break despite much discussion, but will just need to continue performing during the rest of the campaign to have a chance of forcing his way into Gareth Southgate’s plans.

The £150million-rated ace (Daily Mail) has 27 goals in 40 games across all competitions this season.

Pundit Sutton has compared the two strikers:

“We’re all praying it doesn’t happen, but if Kane picked up a problem ahead of Euro 2020, Dominic Calvert-Lewin would be a natural replacement. I’d say Patrick Bamford is the closest English striker to Kane but we all know that is not going to happen, don’t we?” he wrote in the  .

TBR’s View:

Kane is in a different league altogether when it comes to being a goalscorer, but comparisons are certainly fair between the way him and Bamford contribute in the final third.

The duo both work so hard off the ball, and are underrated, Kane not so much anymore, for their ability to link play.

If Bamford can create his goalscoring for from this season for a few years in succession, then surely he’ll be in the mix with England.
