Chris Sutton has told BBC Sport following Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 win over Manchester City on Tuesday night that losing Harry Kane will be a “massive blow” to Spurs.
Pictures emerged of the 25-year-old England captain leaving Spurs’ new stadium on crutches, after suffering and ankle injury following a late tackle on Three Lions teammate Fabian Delph.
Down the by the dugouts, Kane looked to block a Delph clearance but got their late and immediately knee he had hurt his ankle. In recent seasons, Kane has been dogged by ankle injuries.
Sutton was covering the match for BBC Radio 5 Live and he comments on Kane’s injury, stating that it could prove to be a big loss for Tottenham who face Manchester City twice in the next 10 days.

“That is a massive blow for Spurs – to lose their king, their main man,” Sutton said. “It’s the way he lands on his left foot. He makes the challenge and then his ankle rocks, which would suggest ligament damage.”
TBR’s view
Kane has struggled throughout his career with ankle issues. He missed seven games in all competitions towards the end of January and start of February because of a very similar issue.
It looks as though Fernando Llorente may be given the chance to lead the line against Huddersfield Town on Saturday. But against Manchester City in the second leg, Mauricio Pochettino needs pace.
Having Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min in attack will be crucial to add speed to the counter attack, in getting Spurs up the pitch. Perhaps, Son may have to start up front in place of Kane next week.
