Chris Sutton claims Rangers will look to exploit Celtic weak area

Chris Sutton believes that Celtic have a problem area on the left flank this season, something that Old Firm rivals Rangers will definitely be looking to exploit.

The Bhoys started with new recruit Boli Bolingoli at left-back during the mid-week 1-1 draw with CRF Cluj in Champions League qualifying.

He’s had a miserable start to his time at Parkhead and he was at fault for his team conceding.

Meanwhile, promising 22-year-old Lewis Morgan was ahead of him as the left-winger and he’s still trying to find some consistent form in the first-team.

Sutton picked out the left-hand side of Celtic as a serious weakness and claims the club are crying out for investment.

The first Old Firm clash is at Ibrox on 1 September and Rangers could definitely look to target Celtic in wide areas.

“Lewis Morgan has potential and I wouldn’t be writing off Bolingoli, despite him having a stinker. But Rangers will be rubbing their hands at the prospect of that left-hand side going to Ibrox in a few weeks,” Sutton wrote in the Daily Record.

“Lennon needs backing and he said himself he needs two new full-backs, a striker and a midfielder.”

TBR’s View:

Bolingoli, 24, is going to take time adjusting to his new surroundings and he’s got the huge task of trying to fill the void left by Kieran Tierney at full-back.

Morgan has had plenty of opportunities so far this season and is waiting for his first goal, but is surely left out of the best XI when Neil Lennon has a full squad available.

Celtic certainly do have some minor problems to address, while Rangers are looking strong under Steven Gerrard and building momentum.

But Celtic are still way out in front given their experience and they will feel they can hurt the Rangers team just as much.
