Chris Sutton claims Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has picked up where he left off

Chris Sutton has praised Rangers centre-forward Alfredo Morelos for his excellent start to the season and insisted that his manager Steven Gerrard will be working on his temperament.

The Colombian attacker has begun the campaign in scintillating goalscoring form and at this rate should be eyeing an improvement on his 30-goal tally from last season across all competitions.

He’s played eight matches so far this campaign in all competitions and scored nine times in return.

It’s also intriguing to note that he’s received just one booking and it looks like Gerrard may finally be reigning in his temper.

Pundit Sutton is impressed by the way Morelos has hit the ground running in the new season.

“You can’t knock Alfredo Morelos in terms of his goal return and he’s picked up where he left off,” Sutton wrote in the Daily Record.

“His temperament will be key as usual but I’m sure it’s something Gerrard will have worked on.”

Morelos is scoring goals for fun at Rangers and he must feel like he is going to bag every single time he steps on the pitch, which must be a treat for his manager.

Gerrard may be getting through to the South American striker in terms of his temperament, but he will be wanting to keep someone that plays on the edge but can avoid numerous bookings that can impact his team.

Ranges have a frightening amount of attacking resources at Ibrox, as pushing Morelos every step of the way is veteran striker Jermain Defoe who already has five goals in six games this season.
