Chris Sutton has now made a bold statement when considering if Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes would get a start at Manchester City.
Fernandes, who was once again in the headlines as Erik ten Hag’s side stole a win late on against Nottingham Forest, hasn’t had his most productive season.

The Man United captain has often looked a frustrated figure in the number 10 role, and seems to have been affected by the team’s inconsistent form.
Although, it’s not a surprise that Pep Guardiola’s Man City side are having no such troubles.
Erling Haaland returned to ruthless form at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night, scoring five goals, and City are showing their usual strength when the ‘business end’ of the season arrives.
Kevin De Bruyne also looked back to his best after a long injury lay off, an ominous sign for City’s rivals.
All that being said, Chris Sutton was considering whether Bruno Fernandes would actually get a start alongside De Bruyne at City, or if that United captain had fallen beneath that level.
Sutton was considering the situation on the ‘It’s All Kicking Off!’ podcast, and admitted that he thinks City actually have four players who are better in the same position.
Chris Sutton says Man United captain Bruno Fernandes wouldn’t get a start at City
The pundit listed four players he considers to be better than Bruno at City, and he thought he’d have to settle for a spot on the bench.
Sutton said: “Would he get in Man City’s team? No. He’d get on the bench. De Bruyne, Rodri, [Bernado] Silva, [Phil] Foden – I don’t think he’s better than any of those.”

Of course, that is perhaps an indication to how Fernandes has finally succumbed to United’s continued slump.
For years the £68m-midfielder has maintained his exceptionally high standards even when others were struggling around him, dragging his United team to results.
But perhaps he is now finally struggling to fulfil that role, week in, week out – even if he did provide the decisive assist last night.
That being said, Nuno Espirito Santo did go out of his way to praise Bruno last night, insisting his Forest side weren’t targeting the midfielder.
So whilst Sutton might not include the United captain in his best City team, Fernandes probably wouldn’t be too worried, a player who still seems determined to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford.
