Chris Sutton claims Leeds are too good to get relegated after Leicester defeat

Chris Sutton has claimed Leeds United are “too good” to be relegated from the Premier League after their recent defeat to Leicester City.

The Whites were comprehensively beaten on Monday night at Elland Road, as visitors Leicester produced a brilliant counter-attacking performance to record a 4-1 away victory and earn three points.

It’s been a manic start to the top-flight season for recently promoted Leeds, with three wins, three defeats and one draw so far in league matches.

The Yorkshire giants have suffered losses to Leicester and Wolverhampton Wanderers in two of the last three league games, but beat Aston Villa in-between that.

Sutton has dismissed any idea that Leeds will be relegated this season:

“It’s not been Patrick Bamford’s night or Leeds’ night. They’ve given it a go, though, as they always do. They’ve played front-foot football but in the end they have been out-thought and out-smarted. Leeds will ultimately be alright this season, they are too good to go down,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport, as quoted by BBC Sport.

TBR’s View:

Leeds sit 12th in the league table with 10 points from seven matches and that’s a tally they can be incredibly happy with, especially when you consider fellow promoted sides Fulham and West Brom have just seven points so far combined.

It was an off-night for Leeds on Monday and they ran into a strong Leicester team that got their tactics spot on.

It would be a major surprise if the Whites are pulled into any kind of relegation fight and they should certainly be looking up the table, as they’ve made a decent start considering they’ve already played last season’s top two Liverpool and Manchester City in their opening matches.
