Chris Sutton has explained that he wouldn’t give Freddie Ljungberg the Arsenal manager’s job on a full-time basis, despite the club’s away win against West Ham on Monday night.
Ljungberg took charge of his third game as caretaker boss and has filled in since the dismissal of Unai Emery.
After a draw against Norwich City and a defeat to Brighton, the Gunners travelled to London neighbours West Ham for their next Premier League fixture.
Angelo Ogbonna’s goal put the hosts in front at the London Stadium in the first-half, but Arsenal fought back with three goals inside nine second-half minutes to win 3-1.
Gabriel Martinelli netted on his first league start, while Nicolas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were also on the scoresheet.
Sutton insists that club legend Ljungberg shouldn’t get the vacant Arsenal position based off just one good half of football and feels they need someone new at the Emirates Stadium quickly.
“Look I wouldn’t get carried away. If you’re asking me do I think Freddie is up to the task and should be given an opportunity to manage Arsenal long-term? There is something about him, I can’t put my finger on it, but I don’t see him as a manager who carries enough clout,” Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“I think Arsenal need to get someone in as soon as possible. Are we just looking at the result, or are we going to look at the performance and if we’re honest Arsenal didn’t play great. It’s a big three points, but I don’t see him being up to the task if I’m honest.”

TBR’s View:
Arsenal delivered an impressive second-half display to earn a much-needed three points in the league, but in truth it does paper over the cracks a little and they need an experienced manager to try claim the table.
Ljungberg finally got his team selection right, as he unleashed a front three all in their natural positions and each player scored for him.
A win does at least bide the club’s board a little more time to appoint a successor to Emery, but the Gunners face Manchester City next weekend in the league and they could be back to the drawing board if they are thrashed by them.
