Chris Sutton and Joe Ledley react to latest Celtic news

Scott Brown has completed a move from Celtic to Aberdeen on a pre-contract arrangement that will see him put pen to paper on a two-year deal at Pittodrie as a player-coach – and both Chris Sutton and Joe Ledley have reacted.

Brown, 35, has been sensational for Celtic. One of the club’s best ever and most-legendary captains, Brown clocked up 612 appearances in all competitions – winning 22 trophies in his time at Parkhead across 14 seasons.

However, he was out of contract at the end of the season and instead of putting pen to paper on another season at Celtic – he has chosen to team up with ex-teammate and new Dons manager Stephen Glass at Aberdeen.

He has penned a contract until the summer of 2023 where he will continue playing, but will begin a coaching career. Both Sutton and Ledley both reacted on Twitter to the news that Brown has left the club for Aberdeen.

TBR’s view – Has Brown made the right decision?

Rangers look incredibly strong and clearly they have outperformed Celtic this season, blowing the Hoops out of the water. Celtic are expected to have a major overhaul this summer, and it is likely to take time to get it right.

It means Rangers will almost certainly be favourites for the Scottish Premiership title next season, meaning Brown might have got out of Celtic before things got a whole lot worse – not tainting his Celtic spell worse than what it is.

Indeed, starting his coaching career now means Brown is already starting an apprenticeship for what could be a future role as Celtic manager. Time will tell on that front, but it appears Brown has made the right call.
