A number of Celtic fans have joined Chris Sutton in taking to Twitter to react to the news that the Hoops confirmed on their official website that Nir Bitton has signed a new contract at Parkhead.

Bitton’s previous deal was set to expire at the end of the season. And with the Israel international making just 10 appearances in all competitions last term, some may have assumed that he may be heading for the exit.

But he has returned to being an important player this season. He has already made 21 appearances in all competitions for Neil Lennon’s side.

And the club have now announced on their website that Bitton has extended his contract, meaning that he is set to stay with the Scottish Premiership champions until 2023.

Celtic fans delighted

The news has gone down extremely well on social media. Former Bhoys striker Sutton has summed up his reaction with a two-word tweet. And it appears that many of the supporters agree with the pundit.

Some have lauded Bitton’s consistency. He has rarely let the team down when he has been needed. And some believe that it is a very smart piece of business from the Hoops to get Bitton tied down to a long-term deal.
