Chris Sutton was left baffled that Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard was named on the bench in their 2-0 defeat to Valencia on Thursday night.
The Bhoys were beaten at home in the first leg of a Europa League Round of 32 tie, which means they are looking at an exit from the competition unless they pull of a minor miracle in Spain.
Pundit Sutton has admitted he was shocked that manager Brendan Rodgers opted to name Edouard on the bench.
The 21-year-old attacker did enter the action in the second-half, but failed to spark anything into the contest.
“He’s (Edouard) not an out and out No.9, either. And anyway, where is he?” Sutton wrote in the Daily Record.
“This is the record signing. Bought for games like Valencia. He was fit enough for the bench, so why’s he not starting? Is it because he’s a work in progress as well?”

TBR’s View:
Edouard was returning from an injury for Celtic, but if he was able to start it could have been a wise decision and there was too much pressure on Oliver Burke to spearhead the attack.
It’s also an interesting point to make with regards to the Frenchman’s best position, as he was signed for £9million (Sky Sports) to be the star centre-forward.
He’s scored 14 goals in all competitions so far this campaign, but his hold up play can be questionable at times and still has plenty to improve on.
Edouard does look effective cutting in from the wing and Rodgers needs to try find a permanent spot to get the best out of the club’s record signing.
