Swansea City defender Joe Rodon is being linked with a potential move to Tottenham this summer and his international teammate Chris Mepham is convinced he’s ready to make the step up to the Premier League.
Rodon is a Wales international that is currently with Ryan Giggs’ squad ahead of a friendly match with England this week and is a man under the spotlight.
The 22-year-old plays for Championship side Swansea and has made just 66 senior appearances during his entire football career, but is attracting interest from Spurs due to his growing reputation.
According to the Daily Mail on Monday, Spurs submitted a £7million offer for the centre-back and are in discussions with Swansea, who value him at £18million.
There is still time to complete a deal while the EFL window remains open and Wales international Mepham believes his teammate Rodon is already top-flight quality.
“He’s played a lot of games for Swansea now and has been putting in some really good performances,” Mepham told BBC Sport.
“He’s definitely got what it takes to make the step up [to the Premier League].
“He’s very calm and composed on the ball and very confident in stepping forward. Defensively, he’s very dominant in the air and he’s quite a big lad so he imposes himself on the game.
“I think he has all the characteristics that any Premier League team would look for in a centre-back.

TBR’s View:
With such a hectic fixture list for Spurs boss Jose Mourinho to contend with, an extra centre-back through the doors would be excellent and Rodon is an upcoming talent that would be an exciting addition.
The Welshman is a ball-playing centre-back that has looked comfortable at Championship level since breaking into the Swansea XI and he could be a fourth-choice option in the heart of defence with Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez.
Spurs’ transfer business during the window has been one of their best in recent memory and they could still yet cap it off in style.
