Former Liverpool goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has paid Everton stopper Jordan Pickford a huge compliment by saying he’s ‘one of the best I’ve ever worked with’.
Kirkland was speaking on talkSPORT’s Hawksbee and Jacobs show when he delivered his verdict on the current England number one.

Overlooking the Liverpool-Everton rivalry, the 38-year-old said: “I was with Jordan at Preston for a year and he is undoubtedly one of the best I’ve ever worked with.
“Jordan for me is England’s number one. His ability was incredible, he made me feel even older when I trained with him!
“He’s just got to curb his enthusiasm and the way he is on the pitch sometimes – I think he can boil over. As a ‘keeper that can be a little bit dangerous, but if he can rein that in a little bit, there’s no doubt he’s top drawer.”
Pickford featured in last night’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro, which was England’s 1000th game.
TBR’s view – Pickford still years off his peak
The good news for Everton fans is that Pickford is still only 25 and arguably has at least 10 years left in the game.

He likely won’t reach his peak until around the age of 30, so fans have reason to be very encouraged about where Pickford is at right now.
It’s as Kirkland says though, a big thing with him is the management of his emotions.
Once he fully matures, the £100,000-a-week former Sunderland star (Spotrac) can reach new heights and perhaps nail down an England spot for years to come.
