Ben White starred in his competitive debut for Leeds United on Sunday afternoon as the Whites earned an excellent 3-1 win away at Bristol City – and plenty of his teammates have applauded his display on Instagram.
White, 21, joined Leeds on a season-long loan from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer, before Pontus Jansson surprisingly left the club to join Brentford for a measly fee of just £5.5million.
Not many had expected White to fill in for Jansson so soon, and many are still keen for the Yorkshire outfit to bring in a replacement for Jansson. But Sunday’s display will have begged the question, do Leeds need another defender?
White not only showed off his impeccable ball-playing skills as a centre-back, which saw him ping long balls to the likes of Jack Harrison repeatedly – but he was also solid defensively. He posted on Instagram after the win.

Leeds do have cover at centre-back, but it seems as though White is likely to be first choice after his stunning display against Bristol City. Gaetano Berardi, Pascal Struijk, Luke Ayling and Kalvin Phillips can all do a job at the back.
Phillips reacted cheekily on White’s Instagram, commenting “chopstick legs”, while Adam Forshaw, Barry Douglas and Jack Clarke all heaped praise on the big defender for his display.
