Moussa Sissoko has completed a permanent move from Tottenham to Watford – and Pascal Chimbonsa has responded with a six-word verdict.
Sissoko, 32, ends a five-year stint at Tottenham in which the 71-time France international clocked up a huge 202 appearances in all competitions.
But the ex-Newcastle man has fallen way down the pecking order in recent months. Oliver Skipp, Dele Alli and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are first choice.
Given he was on a hefty contract until the summer of 2023, Fabio Paratici has decided to cash in. He has been sold to Watford for £3million (PA).
Tottenham posted a touching farewell message to Sissoko on Instagram, after the Frenchman’s Spurs exit had been confirmed by the club.
Chimbonda reacts as Sissoko leaves Tottenham for Watford
Ultimately, it was inevitable that Sissoko would have to leave. Penning a four-year deal that was going to take him up until he was 32 was strange.
What is almost as strange, though, is that Tottenham have not decided to delay a move until after Sunday’s clash against Sissoko’s new side.
Watford have pushed a deal through in time for Sissoko to immediately face his old teammates. Spurs already have their replacement through the door.
Pape Sarr joins on a permanent basis from French side Metz, but the teenage midfielder will remain in Ligue 1 for the 21-22 campaign.
Chimbonda is not particularly happy at the exit of Sissoko. Responding to Tottenham’s post, he delivered a six-word verdict.
