Chelsea are now joining the race to sign Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee amid rumours Arsenal really want to sign him this summer.

Zirkzee has become one of the stars of the Serie A season, hitting nine goals in 24 Serie A games.

The Dutch forward has also chipped in with three assists whilst showing the ability to be an all-round forward.

Strong and physical at 6ft 4in tall, Zirkzee’s ability on the ball has even seen him compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic by Torino boss Ivan Juric.

That kind of talent is always going to attract interest and it looks like a London battle is on the cards.

Chelsea battle Arsenal for Joshua Zirkzee

The Telegraph reported in January that Arsenal were taking a real interest in signing Zirkzee with a £50million fee on his head.

Reports from Italy earlier this month even claimed that Arsenal are among the clubs ‘crazy’ to sign Zirkzee this summer.

Arsenal will now seemingly face competition for Zirkzee as Tutto Juve claim that Chelsea are joining the race.

It’s stated that Manchester United, Chelsea, Juventus, Roma, Milan and Barcelona are all interested in Zirkzee this summer.

Chelsea taking a look at Zirkzee is no great surprise.

The Blues invested in Nicolas Jackson last summer but there are major questions about his suitability as a top Premier League striker.

We will surely see Chelsea look to splash the cash on a striker this summer and Victor Osimhen has been strongly linked.

Chelsea may go for a different Serie A forward though with Zirkzee now on their radar too.

The problem is that Zirzkee is still young himself and going from Bologna to leading the line for Chelsea is a big jump.

One thing we can be confident on is that Bologna will be in line for a big pay day if Zirkzee moves on – whether it’s to Arsenal, Chelsea or somewhere else.
