Atalanta are keen to sign Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham during the summer transfer window, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The striker is valued at around £40 million by the Blues, with Arsenal, West Ham and Aston Villa all linked with recent interest.
Abraham is set to fall down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge. Boss Thomas Tuchel is eyeing a new striker, possibly Romelu Lukaku, and that doesn’t bode well for the youngster.
The 23-year-old was left out of Tuchel’s squad for the Champions League Final in May. That looks to have been the final straw, although he has been part of the pre-season campaign.
Chelsea will have a desire to win the league during 2021/22. In order to do that they’ll need an elite centre-forward and Abraham will be deemed surplus.
Atalanta could find themselves in the market for a striker too. If Lukaku leaves Inter, they will turn their attention to Duvan Zapata as a replacement.
The Colombian star was in fine form last season, scoring 19 goals and claiming 14 assists as Atalanta claimed a Champions League spot.
To say he was often used as a peripheral figure, Abraham wasn’t in bad form last season either. He found the net 12 times and claimed six assists for the Blues.
His future at Stamford Bridge does look to be up in the air and it’ll be interesting to see where he does end up.
Chelsea future looks bleak for Abraham
The England player would love nothing more than to prove Tuchel eat his words, although that doesn’t look like being at Chelsea.
As a result, Abraham should do whatever it takes to ensure that he gets himself out of West London this summer.
Atalanta would provide him with an exciting proposition. They play football on the front foot and their all-out attack style has caught the eye of European football fans.
It would be a surprise if they were to sign Abraham. Typically Gian Piero Gasperini hasn’t gone with an uncompromising focal point. With that in mind, signing the Chelsea man could allow him a different option.
Abraham earns in the region of £80,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge. As a result, he could prove an affordable signing for whoever is fortunate enough to land him.
