Rangers are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour on loan in the January transfer window despite the midfielder shining for the Blues on Tuesday night in the Champions League – and Chelsea fans have responded on Twitter.
Gilmour, 19, made just his second appearance of the season on Tuesday night for Chelsea as the Blues drew 1-1 with Russian side Krasnodar – having already qualified for the knockout rounds of the Champions League.
Lacking in game time, the Scottish midfielder has the likes of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and others ahead of him in the pecking order. A top player, but one that faces even better players in his position. A loan could be needed.

Signed from Rangers in 2017, The Scottish Sun claim Rangers are interested in bringing him back to Ibrox on a loan deal until the end of the season. The club have Steven Davis, Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara as options in holding midfield.
But with Jack injured, Davis now 35 years of age and Kamara used ahead of the holding midfielder on occasion, perhaps another central midfielder would be ideal – especially with the Gers qualifying for European football after Christmas.
Chelsea supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Gilmour could return to Rangers on a loan deal in the next few weeks – and some are more than happy to see him continue his development under Steven Gerrard.
