Chelsea roared into the Champions League Final with a 2-0 win over Real Madrid last night. Mason Mount once again flexed his credentials and after scoring, he received Instagram praise from Declan Rice.

The youngster has been in scintillating form over the last 12 months and thoroughly deserves the hype right now. His second goal put the seal on a 4-1 aggregate victory over Zinedine Zidane’s team.

Timo Werner came up trumps to grab the first goal for Thomas Tuchel’s team. The Blues will now meet Manchester City in the Final after setting up an all-English affair in Istanbul.

Mount has now scored nine times and registered eight assists from 49 appearances this season. At 22, there really is no ceiling to his potential and he could lead Chelsea to the Champions League title.

Following last night’s performance, he took to Instagram to speak of his pride at reaching the final. He was congratulated by West Ham stars Declan Rice and Jesse Lingard

Many people not of a Chelsea persuasion felt that Mount could find himself down the pecking order once Frank Lampard departed Stamford Bridge earlier this season.

Plenty felt sure that the 22-year-old was only playing so frequently due to Lampard’s desire to blood the youngster into the first-team picture.

Mount has made a mockery of that sentiment, however, and in reaching the Champions League Final has proved his critics wrong.

Rice, valued at £100 million by West Ham boss David Moyes, is an England teammate of Mount’s and is thought to be close friends with the player away from the pitch.

Given his form during 2020/21, it would be no surprise to see Tuchel try and prise him away from the London Stadium during the summer transfer window. In January, TalkSPORT linked the midfielder with a move to Stamford Bridge.

For now, the French boss has a Champions League Final to look forward to.
