Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard has told the Evening Standard that Tottenham Hotspur remain behind Chelsea despite the north Londoners’ new stadium.
Spurs took to their new ground on Wednesday evening for the first time, beating Crystal Palace 2-0 thanks to second-half goals from Son Heung-min and Christian Eriksen.
Mauricio Pochettino has failed to bring in any new players in the past two transfer windows, with Spurs’ coffers going on the new ground which is said to have cost the best part of a £1billion.
Hazard compared Chelsea and Tottenham and reckons the Blues remain ahead of Spurs because they have won trophies. He also commented on the new ground, situated where the previous White Hart Lane stood.

“We are Chelsea and it is a big derby. I don’t like that [Spurs becoming one of the best teams] but we have to accept it. For the Premier League it is good — new stadium and they have top players,” Hazard said.
“But we won a lot of trophies, they have not, so I hope this continues.”
TBR’s view
Spurs new ground has finally seen their performance on the park and participation in the Champions League match. But Hazard is right, they are still without a trophy.
Tottenham need a trophy to finally end the critics. The stigma surrounding Spurs continues to suggest they will never become a big club – and Pochettino a big manager – without silverware.
They remain in the Champions League but are an outsider. Targeting the FA Cup or the League Cup next season has to be a priority.
