Chelsea sign Leicester City’s N’Golo Kante in £32 million deal – Twitter reacts

Chelsea and Leicester City have confirmed this afternoon that diminutive French midfielder N’Golo Kante has completed a £32 million switch to Stamford Bridge. Kante signed a five year deal at Stamford Bridge, and told the club website that he couldn’t wait to get started working alongside Antonio Conte and some of the world class talent in the Chelsea squad.

It tops off a remarkable rise for the midfielder, who was playing for Caen in the French second division just 2 years ago. After a move to Leicester, for a fee believed to be around £5.6 million last summer, he stole the show, making a record breaking 149 tackles last season and earning a spot in the PFA team of the year.

In April, Kante made his debut for his national team, and was one of their best performers as France finished in second place in this summers Euros, narrowly losing out to Portugal in the final of their home championships.

Similar in style to former Chelsea hero Claude Makelele, Kante will play a key role in Chelsea’s midfield next season, and could open the path for Nemanja Matic to complete a move to Juventus, according to the Metro. His bite and work rate is sure to be popular with Blues fans, but also provides a major blow for Claudio Ranieri and Foxes fans in their hopes of a title defence.

Leicester fans will also be concerned that Kante’s exit could spark an exodus of their key players from last season, with several clubs still monitoring Jamie Vardy despite him signing a new deal and turning down Arsenal not long ago, and Riyad Mahrez reportedly set to turn down a new deal, according to various sources.
