Chelsea: Sensational London move for midfielder; club to be charged; competition for defender

There could be a shock move for midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who is still nearing an exit from Stamford Bridge in January despite his stellar performance in place of Nemanja Matic at the Etihad on Saturday as he set up the equalising goal with a stunning pass. Now, the Express claim that his former club Arsenal could come back in for the Spaniard.

Arsene Wenger reportedly turned down the opportunity to sign him when he left Barcelona two and a half years ago, but could now rekindle his interest in the playmaker who has struggled for game time after failing to impress Antonio Conte.

Fabregas was also involved in the brawl that occurred in the closing stages of Saturday’s fixture against Manchester City, with reports suggesting that both clubs could be charged for failing to control their players when the scene kicked off in injury time, with Nathaniel Chalobah quick to defend David Luiz after a nasty challenge by Sergio Aguero.

Chalobah and Fabregas were both booked by referee Anthony Taylor, who also sent off Aguero and Fernandinho, but his report, alongside footage, will be scrutinised with a hefty fine for both clubs likely.

There is more bad news for Antonio Conte as the Daily Star claim that he could face competition from Liverpool in the chase for Hoffenheim central defender Niklas Sule as interest in the 21-year-old hots up.

Sule currently plays in a three man defence at his Bundesliga club and is being tipped as one of the best of a new generation of German talents coming through the ranks, so he would seemingly fit Conte’s shortlist of important factors to fit in with his new system which has so far proved to be hugely effective and blown the Premier League away.
