Chelsea round-up: Spaniard decides future; starlet set for Liverpool move; Monaco winger targeted

The Sun report that Spanish winger Pedro has decided to stay at the club, despite having previously considered his future in London after a difficult first season following his move from Barcelona. The in-form forward told the Sun:

“I’m very happy here. It’s a good situation when you are top of the league and progressing in the FA Cup. We are on the right path. Last year was a difficult one for me, for the club, for the team, but this year is different. With this coach, all the team is focused on the fight for the title, with more confidence… Every day I’m more comfortable with the team… and I have a good relationship with the supporters. All is good for me here and I’m very happy with the situation.”

His performances this season have been superb, particularly compared to last season, and it is clear for all to see that he is playing with confidence and is far more comfortable playing as part of an Antonio Conte team.

One player who may not form part of Conte’s squad for much longer is Dominic Solanke, as the Sun claim that the England under 21 international is set to complete a move to Liverpool. Having demanded £50,000 per week in contract talks earlier this season, the club could still net £8 million at a tribunal if he does move on.

Celtic are also believed to be interested, but few would have expected the Blues to match such outrageous demands from a player who has made next to no impact on the first team despite his impressive scoring record through the club’s academy.

That cash could go towards a £30 million move for Monaco’s left winger Thomas Lemar, claim L’Equipe, who say that Chelsea are set to do battle with Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid for the 21-year-old. Contract talks between the French international and his current club are believed to have stalled, opening the door to a possible exit.

Having scored 10 goals and recorded seven assists in his first 33 games so far this season, it is clear to see why Lemar is in demand with his pace and good finishing likely to have caught the eye of Chelsea’s scouts, but it will be no easy task to secure his services.
