Chelsea round-up: Romelu Lukaku demands Chelsea move; Chinese offer attracts Diego Costa; Thibaut Courtois injury row

The Telegraph claim that Romelu Lukaku is risking upsetting Everton as he demands a move to Chelsea with the Toffees hugely reluctant to allow the Belgian to re-join his former club after a row between the two clubs over the transfer of John Stones has left a long standing feud with the Merseyside club not wanting to even enter into negotiations with the Stamford Bridge club.

Lukaku is believed to be desperate to return to west London to prove himself after failing to establish himself in the first team under Jose Mourinho before he was sold for £28 million in 2013, and is prepared to force through a move to Chelsea, rather than Manchester United, as a result.

He will likely replace Diego Costa as Chelsea’s main talismanic striker as the Mirror report that club bosses believe that the Spaniard’s head has been turned by a new offer from China from Tianjin Quanjia, which would see him earn a world record £650,000 per week if he did make a summer move to the Chinese Super League.

Costa has struggled to find form in recent weeks, as he did when there was interest in him from Asia in January, but it’s believed that a virus was to blame for his disappointing display at Old Trafford last weekend.

One man who wasn’t present in Manchester was Thibaut Courtois as the Guardian claim that the Belgian picked up an ankle injury playing basketball as part of an event with one of the club’s commercial partners, much to the fury of manager Antonio Conte.

Courtois is expected to make a return in time for the FA Cup semi-final this weekend, but it has led to a row between Conte and commercial bosses as the Italian has demanded a stricter policy regarding the involvement of first team players with commercial partners.
