Chelsea round-up: Real Madrid man linked; “nailed on” to sign striker; youngster returns

The Sun claim that Chelsea have made contact with Real Madrid midfielder Isco over a potential move only days after the Spanish midfielder openly expressed his frustration at a lack of playing time at the Santiago Bernabeu under Zinedine Zidane.

Manchester City are believed to be leading the race for the former Malaga playmaker, with Juventus also interested, but it is hard to see how he would fit into the current Chelsea set-up, so with a high asking price likely, a move to London seems unlikely.

Retired midfielder Craig Burley, previously of Celtic and Chelsea, believes that the Hoops’ striker Moussa Dembele is set for a summer move to Stamford Bridge as the former Scottish international man Burley told ESPN:

“Scottish football is quite embarrassing at the moment in terms of the standard but he is head and shoulders [above the rest]. He’s a good player and is young. Chelsea, I’m hearing, are the favourites [to sign him]. Talking to one or two guys I know back in Scotland, they said he is pretty much nailed on to go to Chelsea and possibly for around £40million.”

Having made 113 appearances over an eight year spell, Burley is remembered fondly by most Blues fans and will be hoping that he is correct with his prediction after the Frenchman has been on fire in the SPL this season.

He may be challenged by the presence of Tammy Abraham, the 19-year-old currently on fire on loan at Bristol City where he has scored 21 goals in 38 games so far this campaign. However, a thigh injury means that he is currently back at Chelsea, according to Sky Sports.

The England under 21 international has maintained his superb form for the Robins despite the side’s poor form seeing them drop from play-off contenders to relegation candidates over the past few months.
