There is great news for Chelsea as Spanish newspaper Marca report that Real Madrid are preparing to drop their interest in duo Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard, as Zinedine Zidane has his eyes set elsewhere as he looks to improve his squad.
The French manager is believed to be targeting Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea and is keen to give youngster Marco Asensio more opportunities in midfield next season.
That means that it now seems unlikely that either player will leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with speculation that both could be offered new deals to secure their futures beyond just this upcoming transfer window. Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte, will undoubtedly be looking to build for the future, and the Belgian duo will be central to his plans.
Another player seemingly going nowhere is forward Willian. Despite reported interest from former manager Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, the Brazilian confirmed that he would be staying in west London as he told the London Evening Standard:
“Yes. I have a contract with Chelsea until 2020 and I am very happy here. I have a great relationship with all the people that work at Chelsea and the fans too. They have been great to me since I joined. Chelsea are back in the Champions League next season and I am looking forward to playing in it again. It is a big, big target for us and we have to look to win that trophy next year.”
The player of the year for the club in their disastrous 2015/16 season has found his opportunities limited under Antonio Conte given the change of formation and form of Pedro, but clearly has no plans to give up and move on without a fight.
One player who could be on the move is young striker Tammy Abraham, as the Telegraph state that both newly promoted Premier League clubs Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United are interested in taking the teenager on loan after his superb form saw him end the season as Bristol City’s top scorer in the Championship.
The England under 21 international is unlikely to be first choice at Stamford Bridge and could welcome the opportunity to prove himself in the Premier League with a loan spell.
