Chelsea round-up: Raiola discusses Lukaku’s future; Batshuayi open to loan move; Begovic departs

Romelu Lukaku has been constantly linked with a return to Chelsea since leaving the club and he could be on the move this summer.

Everton have put a £100 million valuation on the Belgian international, but this is unlikely to deter possible suitors as it is known he can score goals regularly in the Premier League.

His agent, Mino Raiola, has been speaking to TalkSPORT and has stated that his client has been promised that he can leave Goodison Park if certain clubs make a move for him.

“Lukaku had a promise that if certain clubs came this summer that he could leave this summer,”

‘We are not in concrete talks with anybody at this moment.”

This is promising news for Chelsea, as they may need to go into the market for a top striker this summer. Diego Costa’s future is uncertain, while Michy Batshuayi is expected to leave the club on loan. At the age of 24, Lukaku is now ready to test himself at a big club again and a return to Stamford Bridge could be the best option for him.

Despite scoring four goals in the final three league matches, Michy Batshuayi is expected to leave the club this summer and the striker is open to a loan move.

It was a frustrating season for the Belgian as he was given limited game-time, but he remains a hugely talented player and he will be keen to do what is right for his career over the next few months.

The Evening Standard mention West Ham as a possible destination for him, which would allow him to stay in the Premier League. There will be other interest from across Europe.

Chelsea have a striker with a lot of potential in Batshuayi, but at the age of 23, he needs to be playing regularly. Thus, the right move for the club would be to loan him out to another Premier League club that will give him regular minutes and reassess the situation next year. His record of a goal every 47 minutes is impressive, but he needs to show what he can do over the course of a season.

Finally, one player that has departed Stamford Bridge is back-up goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. The 29-year-old has moved to Bournemouth on a permanent transfer, with the fee rumoured to be £10 million.

The Bosnian international has been professional and played his part supporting Thibaut Courtois, but it is now important that he gets regular minutes as he enters a crucial period of his career.

This is a good deal for Chelsea as they have made a small profit on the goalkeeper, which once again underlined their impressive recruitment strategy.

They now need to source a replacement and they may opt for an English goalkeeper to help fill the homegrown quota ahead of their return to the Champions League.

There are some good candidates about and it will be interesting to see who the club target for the role.
