Chelsea round-up: Giants target N’Golo Kante move; Diego Costa unhappy; Antonio Conte reacts to Bournemouth win

French outlet Le10 Sport claim that Real Madrid have put N’Golo Kante high on their list of summer transfer targets as Zinedine Zidane has been impressed with his sensational form in the Premier League over the past two seasons.

Chelsea will be highly unlikely to allow the Frenchman to leave unless there is a massive bid for him, but with the Spanish club also thought to be targeting Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard, it would seem a poor negotiation tactic if they even enter into talks over their key midfielder.

Meanwhile, Diego Costa has insisted that he is happy at Chelsea, but has raised doubts over his future after hinting that he is unhappy in London. He told SFR Sport, as translated by Metro and the Daily Star:

“I have another two years on my contract. I am always very honest with those close to me. I tell them that I am very happy at Chelsea… Last season was not the best… This year I hope will be different, that we win titles… I am happy at Chelsea, I am not necessarily saying that I am happy with my life in London, but that is something completely different. It has nothing to do with it.”

Costa was linked with a move back to Spain in the summer and with a move to China in January, with no clear indication over where he will be come the close of the next transfer window this summer.

The striker was the only player to disappoint in victory over Bournemouth at the weekend, a vital win. Manager Antonio Conte was happy post-match as he told the club website:

“I’m satisfied because it wasn’t easy to play this game, above all after Tottenham won. Our reaction, our answer was very good. We started the game very well with great concentration and focus with a will and desire to win.”

“It was a pity to concede and then we suffered a bit, but in the second half we managed the game very well, we scored another goal, and we could have scored goals to improve the result against a really good team, with good organisation and a good coach. We must be pleased with the game.”

The win edges the Blues nearer to the Premier League title thanks to goals from Eden Hazard and Marcos Alonso after an Adam Smith own goal sent the visitors on their way.
