Sky Sports say that forward Eden Hazard faces 10 to 15 days on the sidelines through injury as Belgium manager Roberto Martinez revealed that he would miss the national sides’ upcoming fixtures as he said:
“Eden has suffered an injury before the match against Stoke, it does not look so serious. But he will not play against Greece. We are going to follow the injury. It is a big disappointment for Eden that he cannot lead the team. If you want to be a good team, you have to absorb everything. This is a good test for us. I see enough players who can take over his role.”
The forward is believed to be a doubt for Chelsea’s next fixture against Crystal Palace after the international break and faces a race against time to be fit, though Antonio Conte is unlikely to risk him given the strength of his side and good performance of Willian and Pedro in his place at the weekend.
Conte also has one eye on how to make his squad even stronger in the summer, and according to the Sun, could look to swap defender Nathan Ake with Virgil Van Dijk in an agreement with Southampton to bring one of the Premier League’s most in demand defenders to Stamford Bridge.
Ake attracted attention from the Saints in January after returning to London from a loan spell against their neighbours and rivals Bournemouth. Ake impressed there, but could be sacrificed in order to make a move for the Dutchman possible if Southampton refuse to accept Chelsea’s financial offers.
Ake is also thought to be one of those believed to have been unhappy after Antonio Conte opted not to give game time to a number of fringe players in the FA Cup against Manchester United, say the Sun. The Italian opted for a full-strength starting eleven and did not make changes until late on.
That has reportedly led to some frustration within the ranks as a number of players at the club grow fed up of sitting on the bench and struggling to break into the starting line-up.
