The Sun report that Diego Costa is set to put pen to paper on a new five year contract at the club, worth an incredible £220,000 plus bonuses, which will take him above Cesc Fabregas as the club’s top earner. It’s believed that the Spaniard rejected an offer from China in order to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Talks over a new deal for the striker began after he was dropped for the win over Leicester City, and whilst he is yet to reach the peaks of his previous levels of form, it now seems that Costa is set to stay at the club despite speculation of a move abroad.
Meanwhile, the club could still launch a bid for Inter Milan’s teen sensation Andrea Pinamonti, according to Calciomercato. The 17-year-old has scored 15 goals in 15 games in Primavera C for the club’s B team, but Chelsea are hoping to make an offer to secure his services before he agrees a professional contract with the San Siro outfit once he turns 18-years-old in May.
The pacey striker has made two appearances for the Inter first team this season and is knocking on the door of becoming a first team regular, with his current club understandably keen to tie him down for the future as soon as possible.
Another Serie A target is believed to be Atlanta midfielder Franck Kessie, despite a nightmare African Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast. The 20-year-old told reporters, quoted by the Evening Standard:
“I am very flattered that clubs of this level are interested in me. This proves that I’m having a good season, that I continue to progress. I don’t want to go too fast. I don’t know if my club has received any offers. I’m under contract. We’ll see if we need to discuss anything.”
The holding midfielder, who also specialises as a penalty taker, is believed to be being tracker by a number of Premier League clubs with Chelsea particularly keen on bringing him to London with a bid in the summer transfer window.
