Chelsea have had a bid worth £85 million for Torino striker Andrea Belotti rejected by the Italian club according to Tuttosport, as reported by the Express and Metro. The deal is thought to have been worth £50 million plus a further £35 million in potential variables and add-ons but has been rejected out of hand with the Turin club hoping for a bid to match his release clause which is believed to stand at £85 million outright.
Europe’s top scorer of headed goals this season, the 23-year-old has scored 26 goals in 31 games this season and is competing with the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to win the Golden Shoe award for top goal scorer this season, a remarkable feat for any player whose side are in midtable obscurity.
He could potentially join Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante in the Chelsea ranks next season after both players were nominated for the PFA player of the season award in the final shortlist alongside the likes of Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Both players have been crucial for the Blues, with Hazard returning to his best form and Kante continuing to produce the kind of magnificent displays that saw him win the Premier League with Leicester City last season as his former teammate Riyhad Mahrez won the award.
The duo could also be joined by Sporting Gijón defender Jorge Mere as the Daily Star say that the club have sent scouts to watch the 19-year-old who has become a regular for the Spanish club as they fight against relegation from La Liga.
With over 50 appearances already under his belt despite his young age, he is tipped to be one of the great players of his generation and could be a sound investment with a reported £25 million release clause.
