Italian source Tuttosport, cited by Metro claim that target Ricardo Rodriguez is set to change his mind and turn down both Chelsea and Arsenal with his eyes now set on a move to Serie A club Inter Milan, funded by their new Chinese owners. The left back was thought to be eyeing a move to Stamford Bridge to compete with Marcos Alonso in the left wing back position.

For £19 million the Swiss international could have been a real bargain, but in an early transfer window blow the Blues will now have to set their sights elsewhere to add depth to Conte’s squad in this window.

Their next deal may already be in the offing though as Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Michy Batshuayi could be used as a makeweight in a move to bring Swansea striker Fernando Llorente to Stamford Bridge this month. The young Belgian is still yet to start a Premier League game since signing in the summer and could head out on loan the other way.

Llorente won the Serie A title with Conte in Italy with Juventus and could now arrive as back up for Diego Costa, with Conte seemingly preferring a more physical threat upfront than the pacey Batshuayi.

Sky Sports report that another youngster may no longer be heading out on loan despite interest from the likes of Stoke and a host of other Premier League and Championship clubs as Reuben Loftus-Cheek may now remain in London at his current club.

The midfielder has not played a prominent role this season despite making the breakthrough under Jose Mourinho last year but may instead try to work his way into the team from the fringes in the final months of the season as Chelsea push for the title.
