Matt Miazga’s loan spell at Nantes is set to come to a premature end and a return to Chelsea beckons.
French media outlet Ouest France, via Get French Football News, reports that Miazga is heading back to Chelsea after an unsuccessful loan stint in France.
Miazga joined Ligue 1 side Nantes in the summer but has only managed eight outings for the French top division team.
The USA international has not played since early October and now he will head back to Chelsea with little hope of breaking into Maurizio Sarri’s team.
This could lead to another loan spell for Miazga and his next location is vital to save his stuttering career.
The ex-Poland youth international has previously represented Dutch side Vitesse and perhaps a loan stint in England could help resurrect his career.
This is why a loan move to Aston Villa would be perfect as he would team up with ex-Chelsea hero John Terry.
The Villans are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements, having shipped 10 goals in four games this month.
Miazga could add solidity at the back for Aston Villa, using his 6ft 4in frame to dominate aerially and his tackling ability when the ball is on the floor.
In his eight Ligue 1 appearances for Nantes, the 23-year-old won 46 of his 55 aerial duels and made 39 clearances, as per Who Scored.
This suggests that Miazga could help shore things up for Aston Villa and take his career to the next level under Terry’s guidance.
