Chelsea open to making three signings before deadline day but two positions ruled out

Chelsea are looking at three different positions in which they could recruit in the final days of the window, however, there are two key areas they have decided to leave until the summer.

Enzo Maresca’s side have won just once in their last seven Premier League matches and it’s clear that the Italian’s squad needs work in the transfer window.

The Blues have been working to bring in new players for their manager and have identified three areas in which they most want to strengthen.

Time is running out though with just over four days until the transfer window slams shut on February 3 at 11pm (UK time).

Chelsea want a striker, winger, and possibly a midfielder

Chelsea have ruled out signing a new goalkeeper and defender this month, but are still targeting a striker, winger, and possibly a midfielder, according to the Athletic.

John Obi Mikel urged Chelsea to replace Robert Sanchez who has now committed the joint most errors leading to a goal in the Premier League.

Chelsea had been looking at Marc Guehi as they looked to bring in a defender but the Blues instead opted to re-call Trevoh Chalobah from Crystal Palace.

But now in the final days of the window, a forward appears to be the main priority for Chelsea who have looked at deals for Alejandro Garnacho and Mathys Tel.

Should Chelsea move for Mathys Tel or Alejandro Garnacho?

Tel and Garnacho have both had disappointing amounts of game time this season with the former falling out with Vincent Kompany and the Argentine struggling to fit into Ruben Amorim’s system.

The Frenchman has just one assist to his name in all competitions but Garnacho has a combined total of 12 goals and assists in 34 appearances.

Tel is expected to cost in excess of £40 million whilst Chelsea would be looking at about £60 million to sign Garnacho from Manchester United.
