Chelsea now willing to beat everybody to sign £53m ‘superstar’ defender this month

Chelsea are reportedly ready to beat everybody this month to sign Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni.

The Italian international has been a mainstay for the Serie A giants for some years now, with Bastoni regarded by many as one of the best current defenders in the world.

Lauded by agent Roberto De Fanti as a ‘superstar’, Bastoni has been linked with a Premier League move ever since becoming a regular for Inter, and Chelsea could now make a big play to sign the defender.

TV Play claim that the Blues are ready to beat anybody and everybody for Bastoni’s signature this month, with Chelsea ready to make a €60m (£53m) to sign the 24-year-old.

With defence a key priority for the west London side this January, alongside a new striker, Bastoni would be quite the signing for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this month.

However, given where Chelsea are in the Premier League and how impressive Inter have been this season, Bastoni might feel better suited remaining in Milan rather than making the move to London.

Having made the UEFA Champions League final last season and now looking like the favourites for the Scudetto, things have never been brighter for Inter.

And for Bastoni, the defender could be very tempted to stay with the San Siro giants this January even if Chelsea make a massive offer for the 24-year-old’s services.

Indeed, whilst Bastoni would be an instant starter at Stamford Bridge, the centre-back might know already that staying with Inter is probably better than a move to Chelsea this year.
