Chelsea are ready to break the bank to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen during the January transfer window.

The Blues are in desperate need of a new number nine and have seen summer signing Nicolas Jackson fail to pick up the baton and be the main man.

And according to a report from Football Transfers, Chelsea and Todd Boehly are now prepared to pay whatever it takes to sign Napoli sensation Osimhen.

Chelsea to spend big on Victor Osimhen

Football Transfers is claiming that such is Chelsea’s keenness to sign Osimhen, that they will go as far as breaking their transfer record to land him.

That would push the fee above the £105m or so they spent on Enzo Fernandez and would send shockwaves through Europe and the Premier League.

The fee for Osimhen could end up being massive too, with reports suggesting Arsenal were willing to go to £120m to land the Napoli star.

Napoli have always been determined when it comes to keeping hold of certain players and they are expected to demand a big sum for Osimhen.

However, he hasn’t signed a new contract, so the position of power they once had is slightly less.

Nevertheless, the ‘world-class’ Osimhen will cost big money and it looks like Chelsea might be willing to pay it.

The final piece for Mauricio Pochettino

The new Chelsea manager is being afforded patience with a young squad that has been assembled at huge cost.

However, if the Blues were to sign Osimhen then the pressure would start to crank up.

Pochettino would then have all the pieces in place really to make a good fist of things and this fiddling around in mid-table would no longer suffice.

Chelsea have to start improving and quickly. Sure, they need a new striker and Osimhen helps with that.

But if Boehly goes and spends north of £100m on one player again, then Pochettino needs to start picking regular results up.
