The Mirror claim that the Blues are set to challenge Liverpool by entering the race for Inter Milan’s strong midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia. Despite being on their third manager of the season, Kondogbia remains sidelined at the San Siro after some poor performances early on in the season.
The French 23-year-old joined the Italian giants from Monaco amid interest from Arsenal and can play in central defence and at left back as well as in his preferred holding midfield role where he has developed a reputation as a powerful and tough tackling midfielder.
That move in January could also free up space in the squad to allow youngster Reuben Loftus-Cheek to complete a loan move to West Ham, having fallen behind Nathaniel Chalobah in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge under Antonio Conte, claim TuttoMercatoWeb.
The 20-year-old has just nine minutes of Premier League action under his belt this campaign Andy has been left out of the squad for seven of the club’s 11 matches so far this campaign, whereas Slaven Bilic would be prepared to put him into the Hammers first team almost immediately.
Another player currently away on loan is Andres Christensen, who has proved a real hit at Borussia Monchengladbach. The German club attempted to sign him permanently in the summer but were turned away by Chelsea, but they now hope to secure an extension to his loan to keep hold of him for a third season, claim the Evening Standard.
Antonio Conte is said to have earmarked him as a vital part of his plans for next season given his commanding performances in the Bundesliga which are also reportedly attracting interest from Barcelona amongst a host of top European clubs, so a loan extension seems unlikely for the Germans.
