Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian are preparing an £80 million bid for Diego Costa, having already had a £50 million bid turned down last month, claim the Sun. Chelsea are not considering the sale of the Spaniard, but the Chinese Super League club want to pay him a remarkable £480,000 per week.
The 28-year-old has enjoyed a fine run of form this season and is certainly back to his best, and he returned to action on New Year’s Eve in the victory over Stoke having previously served a one match suspension for accumulation of yellow cards.
The Sunday Express, cited by the Daily Star, believe that Chelsea have made a bid to sign Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton, with Antonio Conte having allocated £60 million of his budget to spend on the Dutch central defender amid competition from fellow top four side Manchester City.
Van Dijk was sent off for the Saints against West Brom yesterday but has been a revelation for the Saints this campaign and has rapidly become one of the most in demand players in the Premier League with Conte hoping to add to his back line in January with the likes of John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic expected to depart in the summer.
Two youngsters have seen their loan deals extended to the end of the season after enjoying life in League 2 with Jamal Blackman now regular first choice in goal for Wycombe and Jordan Houghton a popular figure in midfield for Doncaster Rovers.
The Daily Star also report that both players have been handed new contracts at Stamford Bridge after their impressive form and will be hoping to use these loan spells as a platform for greater success next season and in the coming years as they push for the first team.
