Chelsea: Manchester United defender linked; Spain duo want Costa; £10million bid rejected

Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has grown so frustrated with left-back Luke Shaw that he may sell the youngster in the summer after failing to continue his development at Old Trafford, with the Blues ready to pounce if he is put up for sale, according to the Independent.

The 21-year-old was heavily linked with the club when he was at Southampton but it now seems hard to imagine how he would fit into the current Antonio Conte set up without a chance in the player’s style.

The Independent claim that there could be a battle in Spain over the services of Diego Costa with both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid preparing to make approaches for the striker in the summer. Barcelona are keen to prepare for life after Luis Suarez, who celebrates his 30th birthday next week, and Atletico are aware that they may struggle to Antoine Griezmann in the summer.

Costa has frequently spoken of his love for Spain and how he one day hopes to return, as he nearly did last summer when Diego Simeone tried to bring him back to Madrid, and it now looks possible this summer for a fee in the region of £40 million.

The club have rejected an offer worth £10 million for second choice goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, say the Daily Mail. Bournemouth are said to be keen on the Serbian as they see him as a long term solution to their goalkeeping headache with first choice Artur Boruc now 36-years-old.

The former Stoke stopper has struggled for first team football as he has failed to displace Thibaut Courtois since joining the club on a free transfer, but the Blues are now said to be demanding a bid worth at least £12 million before considering selling him to the south coast club.
