Chelsea: Leicester victory reaction; Marseille defender watched; new kit deal to fund transfers

Antonio Conte, along with Chelsea fans, was delighted with his team’s performance in victory over Leicester City, as he told the press it was the best performance of his tenure as the Daily Mail report on quotes saying:

“I think this is the best game for us. I saw good commitment and I’m pleased for the players because when you work very hard it’s important also to win and make a good performance.”

Eden Hazard was in agreement, after adding the second goal of the game, as he added:

“I play more inside the pitch. I don’t stay wide. We play also this system in the national team for Martinez. I think we have more freedom even when we lose the ball, we can get the ball back. It’s a good system for Chelsea.”

French sources, reported in Metro, claim that the Blues could be set to launch an audacious bid for French 16-year-old Boubacar Kamara. The Marseille central defender will be available on a free transfer when his deal expires in the summer, with him being available to discuss terms with any club from January.

The France under 18 international is the captain of Marseille’s reserve team and is tipped to be a huge hit in the future with similarities drawn with a number of top French defenders. Whilst he may be one for the future, it would show a step in the right direction for the club’s recruitment policy.

There could also be a raft of new signings after agreeing a £900 million kit deal with Nike, working out at £60 million per season for the next 15 seasons, claim the BBC. That money is likely to go almost entirely into the club’s transfer budget as Conte seeks to rebuild the side in his own look.

With Conte’s new system, using three central defenders and wing backs, has already been a hit following on from victories over Hull and Leicester and this is likely to be the way forward for the Blues long term.
